What I wouldn't give to be celebrating thanksgiving today with ya. Let me guess... you're making cheesecake?
-Just sayin'
Love you too pal. At the very least, you should go to Subway (or whatever socialist version of a sandwich shop they have there) and get a turkey club.
Bryan and I were talking and we think Avey Tare's 'Down There' is the best album of the year.
He's the primary song writer for Animal Collective. Blood Orange's 'Coastal Grooves' nice new-wavey steady poppy. Nurses' 'Dracula' yummy reverb space mountain.
Gang Gang Dance's ' Eye Contact' the new one from these guys, tight psychodelic jam.
Fleet Foxes' 'Helplessness Blues' saw them in seattle with the walkmen, good show.
James Blake's self titled debut beats and soul from a british white boy.
Rainbow Arabia's 'Boys and Diamonds' weird duo but it's pop at heart.
Warpaint's 'The Fool' all girl band, nice angst guitar howl.
Twin Shadow's 'Forget' the new prince - for real!
I'm about to start recording music with a girl I met down here that has a gorgeous voice and is a violinist/cellist/pianist. -I'm really excited about it. I miss creating with other people.... A LOT. I've got a 2 hour drive tomorrow with my pal Avey Tare. Thanks.
Looking forward to offline talks. Wouldn't want a paper trail. And who really knows about the people who hold the keys to this website. Might be of the deranged varietal.
I've been listening to Joe Strummer lately, Fleet Foxes, The Dears, Dire Straits per NotPhil, Willie Nelson's Stardust, Wilco's The Whole Love, and a lot of Belle and Sebastian's The Life Pursuit -My daughter likes that album. Not a whole lot of "new" music which is why I appreciate the recommendations. Oh, lot's of Field Music too. I love that band.
An example is the song "Mining Accident" a song about falling in love/connecting amidst natural disasters.... "your mine when the government falls, when anarchy reigns we can have a good talk.... will you be mine when the government falls"? -You wouldn't have found this lyric on his first album. Listen to this haunting song "Witches": http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_L1UHZRSU2A The vocal arrangement is awesome! As you can hear, this album has a sadness the other didn't. 7 years have passed and with time comes pain and disappointment. -You can hear this in his new album and frankly, it's better for it. "Why heaven never helps you, who can tell
Every hope you want to cling to, gone as well" -I like the new wounded Timmy :)
