This the guy? http://a57.foxnews.com/global.fncstatic.com/static/managed/i... Sure, why would having a representative of a violent Marxist fringe group at a polling station be something to worry about? Stupid GOP'ers, worrying about black people voting freely? (I assume North Philly is still mostly black?) It'd be like voting with a giant Obama mural in front of you. Or like having the guy handing out the ballots wearing an Obama hat. I say polling places have to be safe, orderly, non-partisan, and well run. This stuff is BS. -XC
Contra question - if someone identified with the KKK was doing the same thing would it be intimidation? NB, not saying (Black Panthers)=(KKK), but they share similarities relative to violent behavior, illegality, etc, etc. Interestingly the KKK was never big into moonshining to finanance their operations while the BP ran/dealt a lot of drugs back in the day. -XC
I'm also confused, what are you really trying to say here? Trying to figure out what you think is and should be going on now that we are back at the intersection of race and free speech. Is anyone in violation of any law? Why does their ethos have anything to do with their right to express themselves in a legal way?
I don't think if they are just standing there and handing out fliers it qualifies, even if it's the KKK. Right? I mean, it is a democracy. Look at this guy. He almost looks nerdy. I probably wouldn't even realize that he was a Black Panther. If he's just handing out fliers, NBD. Also, I wonder if he is in a predominantly black precinct. The irony is that he might be there to look out for intimidation. If he was giving people a hard time, or really being anything but civil, yeah, he should take a hike.Contra question - if someone identified with the KKK was doing the same thing would it be intimidation?
I completely agree with the non-partisanship and the "no hat". There are clear rules against such things, right? When I voted today there were Obama people there but they were well away from the door and all I had to say was "I'm not interested" and they smiled and left me alone. I received 3 phone calls from Romney camp today and only 1 from Obama. I'm excited to see the returns come in but have some dinner function thingy to go to... I'm sure I won't be the only guy looking down at his phone all night.
HA HA HA! I was just in a GOP chat room (shudder) and they were really up in arms about some black panther guy at a voting station. I tried to find out what it was he did to intimidate any voters and they said it was "just the way he looked". I then saw a photo of him and he was some old, skinny dude with a beret on. Not the most intimidating fella. Anyways, it's his right to be there, just like it would be a KKK members right to be there. Once they actually threaten someone though, they lose that right. Great photo, had me laughing for sure.
