I've had a couple of friends tell me that I should start watching this show. All of whom I respect regarding their taste in TV/Film.... even you. I'll put it next on my list.
It is good. And really fun to watch. Season 3 just started Sunday, so I recommend not putting it on your stack of other things to watch. I just think it's more fun to watch each episode as it actually comes out.
Can't seem to convince "J" that it's something she might like. I'm working on it.
It's like trying to convince someone that they'll love an album. You never really know till you try. I'd start by saying that the zombie apocalypse is just a conduit for an interesting exploration on real human relationships. How we love and treat eachother is really what the show is about. Plus, there's buckets of blood!
the season 3 premiere was pretty violent and cool. I am expecting this season to be much more grim and gory. I think they really played up the desperation of the characters. Also the setting is much more harsh than the last setting, and with a new character or two that will be introduced, I expect that this season is going to be fairly dark. I hope they don't make it too dark and hopeless, and have rays of hope shine through, in order to juxtapose the darkness a bit.
Agreed. I thought the singing around the fire in the prison yard was a nice moment. Like the hope within the darkness thing you're talking about. It's also just crazy to have a pregnant woman in the group. It adds a new level I think.
Yes. The whole motivation of finding a suitable place to have the baby is a driving force so far. Her fears about the baby being infected are pretty real. Reminds me of the dawn of the dead remake from several years ago. Pretty sick stuff. My wife hates it. It gives her nightmares. Personally, as a zombie fan and a comic fan I can't get enough.
I like it. After season 1, I started reading the graphic novels, too - they are excellent (and young Carl is a lot more of a bad-ass in the books). It's good that the graphic novel plot line is different enough that I don't feel like I have seen any spoilers - although I am really looking forward to the 'Michonne' character, who is supposed to appear this season.
The graphic novels are good too. It's cool that the plot lines vary a bit. Do you think that they're realizing what works for different media and changing based on that, or maybe they just want to try and explore the potential for different plot lines? Michonne is a bad ass. You must be on Season 2?
I've seen about half of season 2, maybe a bit more. Just have not gotten around to seeing it all yet. I've read up to the 7th or maybe 8th hardcover graphic novel collection. Some of the plot threads are pretty similar between TV and the books, but the order of events, and quite a few details are different. One reason for a plot difference, in my opinion, is [spoiler] that they didn't want to kill off Shane's character as early as occurred in the graphic novel.
