I've been meaning to read something of hers for the longest time, but never quite managed to start. Thanks for this random kick up the backside. I'm usually pretty strict about reading series in published order but since I've stubbornly failed to ever read one of her novels, what the hell. I'm not even nervous.

If it helps, it's the first in the Hainish Cycle chronologically. So you could say you're just reading her work in the universes' temporal order.

Are the books independent enough to read them in that order?

Or do you think it would spoil the experience if I continued?

Yeah, I read The Left Hand of Darkness first and it's events are disjoint enough from The Dispossessed that both can stand on their own.

Although now I really need to get the rest of the Hainish Cycle books...
