Agreed. As an 8th grade math teacher my experiences have been related to students approaching me in a blaming fashion. You don't understand me Mr. K., "I'm an active learner (meaning kinesthetic). You need have us "do stuff" more in class, then I'll do better" A student's poor performance is supposedly due to my lack of turning algebra into a physical education, or dance class. Sorry dude. That's just not happening here. Find a way to go with the flow instead brother.
This is something I have been observing for years. As a tutor, one of the biggest reasons students would say they were visual or auditory learners was to excuse the fact that they could not effectively read. This idea was reinforced when I began substitute teaching high schoolers.
