One would expect that if this were done to conceal evidence that an obstruction charge would be in the offing. I'm no lawyer, and I know there are hot debates about what construes obstruction, but can there be a more clear cut case than intentionally destroying the only evidence on which a serious civil claim rests a mere hours after the claim is filed?

I mean, on paper, yes. But that requires evidence, and we have a pretty poor track record of holding public officials accountable lately.
