Oh I'm excited.

Also, if you're not familiar with it 1d4chan is the best place for 40K fluff.

Did you ever get around to reading this in it's entirety?

johnnyFive  ·  2530 days ago  ·  link  ·

I'm not sure that I did ... I remember having it bookmarked and/or in a tab for awhile, but think I lost it in a reboot or something.

I'd love to hear your thoughts. Maybe it will be a good way to kill some time.

Oh cool, thanks! I've been looking for decently-written stories in the universe. Unfortunately the over-the-top nature of, well, everything makes it tough. There's only but so many superlatives you can use in a paragraph before things start sounding really stilted.

Gotcha, and thanks for the suggestions. I started the first book in Abnett's take on the Heresy (Horus Rising), and while it wasn't bad, it was still super repetitive without any interesting characters. I can appreciate that he was trying to show Horus's fall as a more gradual thing (rather than him just waking up one day and deciding to be the Devil), but again it just felt like it went in circles too much. At the end of the day, I'd say I actually find the Space Marines to be about the least interesting characters in the universe.

I really enjoy the Imperial Navy, but the only book I could find (some pirate ebook someplace) was pretty meh. I'm also fascinated by some of the Space Marine-adjacent groups, such as the Arbites. I also think Navigators are super cool, and could make for a good story source in themselves (if anyone has done so).

Oh cool - I'll have to see if I can find that story.

As for Dredd...have you found a good entry point to the series? It's been going on like 30 years by this point.

Have you ever read the /tg/ creation of the Great Ship?

Yeah that was the one. I just love the idea of the setting, nevermind the amounts of handwavium required for the Ship to not just collapse under it's own gravity.

I think because it reminds me of Pandorum so much in a lot of ways. Snowpiercer too really.

I haven't had nearly enough tabletop in my life in the past few years. I have a homebrew game set at Miskatonic University in the flapper era that I want to run at some point, but it requires PCs that can be dedicated to the few archetypes I need to make the story work.

I'd be open to playing a game with Hubski. Can't say for sure what my schedule will be like that far out, though; or if I'll have any other games going on to figure around. My group is in wait-and-see mode while relationship drama hopefully resolves itself.
