That was quite the irony. After his youtube video called "Art before commerce", the loud music plays with a SUBSCRIBE in large type and the Patreon link soliciting donations right after it.

Maybe he just meant literally art (the video) before the commerce (the Patreon llnk).

I don't know if there was much controversy around the comic strip, but if there wasn't, that's amazing. To say something like this and not get embroiled in controversy is pretty amazing these days:

Calvin: History is the fiction we invent to persuade ourselves that events are knowable and that life has order and direction. That's why events are always reinterpreted when values change. We need new versions of history to allow for our current prejudices.

Calvin: “Today for show and tell I ‘ve brought a tiny marvel of nature: a

single snowflake. I think we might all learn a lesson from how this utterly

unique and exquisite crystal.. ..turns into an ordinary boring molecule of

water just like every other one when you bring it in the classroom. And now.

While the analogy sinks in. I’ll be leaving you drips and going outside.”

so many amazing quotations on that link, jdog!.

I don't remember any/much. Is there something specific that you found controversial?

I don't remember any controversy either. I was just leaving open the possibility because it seems amazing in retrospect that there wasn't any. Maybe it was because he was using a boy and an animal as the vehicles to deliver his messages.

People through history have been killed for asking philosophical and religious questions from the minority. It would be amazing if he didn't get any hate for his views.
