Hold on, I thought a huge part of the hangover question was simple dehydration/improper salt balance?

I know there have been a few mornings I would have killed for a good ole potassium drip.

I can tell you from experience that the worst hangover known to man can be cured in minutes with a couple liters of saline in your arm.

If a big fluid bolus wouldn't probably kill me, I'd keep a few on hand and a friendly nurse on speed dial.

Yes, but just as we know SSRIs help with depression, we don't actually know that depression is caused by a serotonin imbalance in the brain. We just know giving people more happy chemicals makes them more happy. Am I wrong in my understanding of this?

I've heard the analogy that SSRI's are kinda like dumping gasoline into/on top of a sputtering engine. Might make it go faster, might just catch fire, might actually restore normal functioning, might do all sorts of things.

There's at least one alternate theory that it might be B vitamin deficiency.
