I'll just add that to the list of reasons I like you. As the son of an archaeologist/anthropologist, I find this picture deeply nostalgic. Thanks for sharing.

Awesome. What kind of work did he do?

His archeology grad school work was in the southwest, Mexico, and Taiwan. His later professional work was mostly local to Michigan. He's done some work in China. All of this was aside his work as a professor.

I wonder if he and my dad were familiar with each other. It is not a huge community. My Dad did mostly southern Ontario stuff.

He grew up near Angel Mounds in Indiana and then when he was looking for an appropriate subject for his doctorate found Serpent Mounds near Toronto. After working at the Smithsonian, Royal Ontario Museum and Univ of Nebraska - Lincoln, he returned to head up the arch department at a small university near Toronto.

interesting indeed... based on the timing of that picture, your dad is about 10 years ahead of my dad. BUT - having said that, his Toronto-ness and my dad's Detroit-ness (and Port Huron/Sarnia-ness) may have overlapped at some point.
