I wonder if he and my dad were familiar with each other. It is not a huge community. My Dad did mostly southern Ontario stuff. He grew up near Angel Mounds in Indiana and then when he was looking for an appropriate subject for his doctorate found Serpent Mounds near Toronto. After working at the Smithsonian, Royal Ontario Museum and Univ of Nebraska - Lincoln, he returned to head up the arch department at a small university near Toronto.
