Very nice. I like the lyrics and the guitar.

Now my amateur two cents:

The song seems to be predominantly reside in the higher tone levels. If I were mixing this I would raise the levels of the bass track. I could barely hear it. (Though it could be these crappy earbuds I use at work)

Strings are not a bad idea though I would not go for it. The raspy guitar and raising the bass levels (See how my ideas intertwine?) gives it more of a bluesy, smoky bar room feel. Even though smoky bar rooms don't really exist any more.

I think a female backing vocal would really add to the track.

Thanks for the feedback, it's really helpful. I always wrestle with knowing when to put on the breaks as far as adding too much to a song. Perhaps you are right and strings aren't necessary? It sure as hell would save me some time. I have used a lot of orchestration on the past two albums with strings and horns and I had vowed not to use ANY on this one but this song just seemed to beg for strings. Maybe I should stick to my guns.

Because it's hard to hear these songs with a fresh pair of ears, I really appreciate the feedback. I do take such things in to consideration.

Female backing vocal -- I'll look in to that too. Great advice!

I just listened to it on my laptop speakers. The quality was much better but I still think the bass needs to go up.

It might be your earbuds. The low end is coming across ok in my headphones.

I will check it out when I get home tonight.
