Is G+ just biding it's time, waiting for the inevitable collapse or do they anticipate a slow transition? Will there be a transition at all or will FB retain market share inevitably? Perhaps a newcomer will usurp them both? What do you think?
Honestly, I can't stand FB but I occasionally visit because people I'm far away from (family and friends) are often there -though I often don't like what I find. I like G+ because it's quiet. I use their "hangouts" to hold meetings and talk with friends. But truthfully, I could do without either. There are millions of people who couldn't though and they've just been ascribed a valuation at close to 100 billion dollars!!
What do you think Hubski? Is FB going to remain the big dog? Are they worth what they are being valued at?
They introduced games to increase the time spent on the site. This only brought endless amounts of spam from in-game promotions. They introduced the news stream to staunch the flow to Twitter. Now my FB homepage is full of crap about other people I don't care about. On G+, I don't add every person I've ever met. I follow people I think are interesting. They have no obligation to follow me in return, unlike the forced 'friendships' of facebook. I've been using social networks less and less over the last five years, and facebook's constant 'upgrades' have only hastened that process.

Yes, outside of serving as a contacts list, Facebook doesn't really solve a problem I have. I can see Google+ serving as a good feed of interesting stuff, but IMO the information density is a bit too low. I've got to scroll a lot just to see a few items.
But nope. Something just isn't right. Now I think google should start laying off products. While I used to love Google, I'm getting scared of all the information I have stored with them. I'm slowly moving away from things like calendar, google+, my contacts, etc. They obviously aren't following their "Do no evil" policy any longer, and I'm not going to wait until it's too late.
It said 'Recent photos'. After some digging, I found that it was a picture that I sent to my brother some time ago. Why was it popping up in another email? Why do they think I'd like a random assortment of images that I have previously sent to pop up on the right of my screen? WTF is that?
Scared the absolute fuck out of me the first couple times...especially since the images were NSFW.
Oh, nice... the 'recent photos' includes pics that other people have sent me too. Great, I could just email a bunch of cock pics around to my email list, and everyone can enjoy those little thumbnails for the next few weeks. Why do other people get to choose what pictures I see when I am using my email?

Make sure you start with me
I now feel that the differences between Google+ and Facebook probably can not be great enough to cause users to leave Facebook for Google+ This holds particularly true for older folk on Facebook. Also, I don't have the feeling that one suffices for the other. Which is kind of funny. If Google+ is too different, then it won't feel like an alternate to Facebook. If it is too similar, then why switch? I'm sure Google+ will be around for a long time, however. In fact, I think it will just become part of the Google Account. Some will use it, and some won't. I like hang-outs. But I actually don't use my circles. Arrgh, Google+ can mess with the Hubski bold markup.
Facebook has a much broader audience than Myspace did, and many of its users aren't very tech-savvy, which could also impede a "great migration". As more people use social networks, the percentage of users who are slow to change goes up. Perhaps we will consequently see a splintering across social networks as user migrate gradually.
