Your rock is way cooler than mine. Looks like a potato and a roof tile had a baby. But, in case a geologist wanders into this topic:

Found in Sweden. Could anyone tell me where the red/orange-ish color comes from? It was like this on dozens of similar rocks there.

I'm not a geologist, but I did stay in a Holiday Inn Express a year ago...

It looks like straight up quartz to me. The red/orange could be some iron inclusions, or maybe just some red/orange quartz. It comes in lots of colors.

HA. I wonder if the holiday Inn express reference resonates to our European brethren. I agree though, looks like quartz to me, but I'm no Geologist. I have a friend from college that is though. I'll invite his opinion.

Quartz seems like a very good guess. It did feel more like a mineral than a rock.
