I think most people know it, at least from what I know from my relatives and friends in China. However it's more that people don't care about it, or doesn't think it's a big deal, or too afraid to express it, or thinks that buying expensive houses, cars, clothes, bags, makeup prioritize above everything else. People buy designer items and newest gadgets that are beyond their wealth just to showoff. Somehow money, and the associations with wealth and nothing else dominate people's lives. Anyways I hope it'll change.

It sounds like China is ripe for a communist revolution. They better watch their backs.

thanks for the insight. I hope it changes too, materialism does not make for a solid social foundation.
