Today I wondered if a site like this existed.
It is exactly what you think it is, so procede with caution.
The more I watched, the more it disturbed me.
Are the ethics any different from chicken fighting, or other animals?
I don't know much about ethics, but it's painful to watch beautiful things be destroyed. It's reminiscent of a child pulling wings off a moth. It's suggestive of a disregard for life that lessens the surprise of hearing about the Mike Brown vs Darren Wilson fight. However, I watched a fight between a blue crustacean and a scorpion, and the intelligence displayed was fascinating. Both of them were heavily armored relative to their offensive capabilities. After flailing around for some time, the scorpion zeroed in on the lobster's eyes and joints, securing the win. It was really interesting to see how dexterous the scorpion's stinger was, and how quickly it adapted to such a novel opponent.
They also clearly know when they are out-matched. They try to escape instead of confronting their challenger. This seems a clear indication of who the victor will be.
I don't know how I feel about it. I didn't enjoy watching the two random fights I clicked on, but I was not repulsed by them either.
I've not kept up with it lately, but it wasn't that long ago that a ruling determined Kentucky's animal cruelty laws did not apply to birds. That put chicken fighters in the clear. I'm certain there would little empathy for arthropods in Appalachia either.
Anyone want to pay the $1.99 to watch Mike Brown and Darren Wilson fight :/ ...cause I'm not gonna...
Right? Kinda threw me for a loop. I had never thought about the morality of Bug Fighting before. I guess I'm not opposed to it, but advertising for a fight with bugs named after those two guys seems kinda fucked up.
