I hope we get so much more humor mileage out of this system, now that it's open-sourced.
I see this kind of thing as all in good fun. I really enjoy stuff like this or LSTM "recipe generators" much more than overhyped "real research" like the recent "IQ test" (Embeddings can solve analogical reasoning tests with vector arithmetic! This would have been shocking in 1997!)
Here's a fragment of reddit: I see something cool and go to the comments so that somebody can tell me it's wrong or stupid. I hadn't heard of DeepDream before this, and I'm glad I learned about it. The title of the article might be clickbait, but the content was pretty neat.
Heck, he's the only one standing in front of casks of aging beer.
Some of those associations are astonishinly human like, e.g., hand held up as if it was holding something gets generic square object and hand that looks like a bird head does look like a bird head to the AI. The best part is the cigar because it looks like there should be one. It can apparently recognize what a face holding a cigar looks like... And white people look like dogs.
That was utterly fantastic. Thank you for sharing--I needed a laugh!
