Top of the Lake. It's a one season mystery show from New Zealand starring Peggy from Madmen. It was on Netflix, but I don't know if it still is.

The last two episodes made me hate everything that came before. You get the idea that they know what they're doing and then, like Lost, they totally fuck it up.

The Killing and Broadchurch both run rings around Top of the Lake.

Haven't seen Broadchurch. The Killing, seasons 1 and 2 are some of the best TV crime drama I've ever seen. Season 3 lost me. I haven't watched the abbreviated season 4 yet, but I've been told that it vindicates S3 a bit.

Watched Season 1 of The Killing. Will watch the rest when they hit Netflix.

Broadchurch is pretty damn good.

Longmire is sort of a cross between Top of the Lake and Murder She Wrote. It's vaguely hokey but also pretty damn good.

I actually finished this weekend, it was so good! I couldn't stop thinking about it for a few days. Such a gripping show, especially towards the end. Thank you so much for recommending it to me!

Watched the first episode last night. Really got me intrigued, and the landscape is stunning. Will keep watching :)
