A play by play on how they did it here
These guys deserve to be free. Between the negligence of the correctional facility, and the sheer epicness of the actual escape I think they earned some of the freedom they're getting before they're found. Hopefully they don't kill anybody...
Yeeah... it's hard not to kind of root for them after what they've achieved. Still, lets not forget that there was a reason they were in there. While it would be amazing if they escaped and then were caught volunteering at a soup kitchen, it's probably more likely they'll be caught doing something illegal.
If the authorities aren't looking in Zihuatanejo, they ought to be.
Update for thenewgreen, randomuser, et al: the local news around here are speculating that the escapees are in the process of being surrounded by local and state police over by Lake Champlain.
My that had to be loud. I have been cutting up an old refrigerator with a sawzall, and I feel bad for my neighbors when I am doing it. It's amazing to me that they could make such a racket and not arouse the guards. You would think that someone was turning a blind eye.
What I noticed in the article is that it says they were "suspected" to have power tools. Maybe one of them is secretly superman and is using his eye lasers to cut through metal.
It seems like a lot of incompetent / shady-at-best things occurred for this to happen...not noticing or checking thoroughly enough to discover the holes they were digging, not hearing them cutting through anything, them getting the power tools in the first place. I'm amazed by how nice of a cut that is in that section of pipe they escaped from.
