ButterflyEffect  ·  3469 days ago  ·  link  ·    ·  parent  ·  post: FBI behind mysterious surveillance aircraft over US cities

The FBI asked the AP not to disclose the names of the fake companies it uncovered, saying that would saddle taxpayers with the expense of creating new cover companies to shield the government's involvement...

Are you kidding me? This really isn't a good contribution but I can't find the right words to describe how that makes me feel.

Yes, a postal box and a LLC can cost several dozens of dollars.

In short, the FBI simply doesn't want it disclosed, but they have no valid reason why it shouldn't be.

There was an extensive list of the companies in a reddit comment, which has since been removed.

To stir the pot:

FVX Research, KQM Aviation, NBR Aviation, PXW Services, amongst other similar three letter acronym iterations of "Aviation", "Research", and "Services".

Nothing really impressive.

I'm not sure what value publishing the names of the fake businesses brings to the story.

I don't take as much issue with that as I do with their reasoning behind it, which mk summarized for me.

Yeah, it's BS.

They're really, really concerned with burdening the tax payers.
