Maggots are medically useful and are important for the removal of carrion.

My 30 seconds of due diligence made me believe that carrion would manage without maggots.

Medical Maggots™ had not occurred to me. That's a point in their favor, but on balance Musca has a lot to answer for healthwise.

Mosquitoes are the answer to most useless animal. Single worst disease vector for humans, absolutely no benefit to anyone. And the bites of course. Fuck them all the way to extinction.

And I'm sure with mosquitoes gone, bats would find something else to eat.

By total volume of misery I bet you're right, but a mosquito can get by without infecting anyone. I nominate the guinea worm as the most damnable individual creature; every one that ever completed a life cycle made someone suffer.

Yikes. Those worms are awful creatures.

It doesn't beat the Nematode, but check out the parasitic wasp:

Let's just agree that a lot of insects, and by extension a large portion of life, is either unnecessary or just plain horrible
