I also think there's a point where "wrong" segues into actual usage and then into "right enough" and finally becomes "more or less OK for now" before it passes out of usefulness (like boyfriends, _refugee_). For example, I'm aware that I'm losing the battle over less-fewer. Eventually all we'll have left will be 'less". I will quietly mourn "fewer" as it is handy to use with countable nouns, but I will not obsessively correct all the misuses in Wikipedia. Watch for a #writebetterdammit blog on less-fewer. Speaking of "less" and "fewer," I'm a stickler re: correct usage of each term and I won't let either die a quiet death - but you can thank my mother for it! "Less" and "fewer" correlate to correct usage of "amount" vs. "number."

Possibly more of a pubski sum up post or something. By all records I was rather mean to him... But I got everything off my chest that I had wanted to. Which makes one wonder - maybe when one is being mean to everyone, can it simply be because one is foiling the desire to be rather mean to one specific person, and as a result of suppressing this, it leaks out all over everything else by accident?
