any media exposure is basically the signal that death is upon the organizers.
that is a really interesting way to frame this event. The question is, for a site that's helped so many, why would do few care to actually put even a little back in? but who am I? I haven't donated
I am trying to understand your comment. Is the following a fair interpretation?A business model under which something of value is given away for free with hope of attracting donations does not result in as many donations as I think it should. Market anarchism is about relying on others to do the right thing because it has no central enforcement mechanisms. Therefore, market anarchism fails.
Nah, it was a joke mostly. You know I think anarcho-capitalism would end up in some semblance of a government pretty quickly. That's the failure mode -- but it stems from the same place, my disdain for human nature as it pertains to power and envy. Market anarchism is about using the market to create central enforcement mechanisms. At some point, you are relying on others to do the "right" thing, I guess. Erowid, Wikipedia, what.cd, BTN, PTP and waffles.fm are just a handful of sites that give things of value away for free and have successfully attracted donations (so far). As an aside, any comment I make on hubski under 15 words is usually a joke. I'm so misunderstood. And this was a very rushed comment because I have to run to dinner and then work.Market anarchism is about relying on others to do the right thing because it has no central enforcement mechanisms.
Ah, noted. That means I can throw out the draft 10,000-word essay I was preparing to rebut your earlier statement. j/kany comment I make on hubski under 15 words is usually a joke
Yeah, but Evo and Agora were really only on the minds and lips of people that knew about them. And SR2 was never a good idea.
I enjoy the theory that Silk Road 2 was an elaborate FBI sting. Created after the collapse of the original to collect information on all major players. From what I've read of SR2's fallout the main evidence comes from an FBI agent impersonating a moderator since it's inception. Doomed from the start really. This isn't about shutting all the dark markets down. They know that's impossible. This is about justifying the War on Drugs. It's working.
You have trees and mushrooms. Trees grow tall, live the life and produce glucose. Mushrooms are small, deeply connected and wide spread. They cannot live by themselves and depend on the glucose from another source. Symbiosis. Mushrooms and Trees have a deal. The trees provide glucose and the mushrooms provide rare/neccessary nutrients for the trees by transporting it from all over the forest. As long as the trees seek the nutrients, the mushrooms will be there. If you take out one, the roots remain and another one will pop up.
