Classy drummer for Pistol. That's a sick band for sure, and I forgot about KEXP– Seattle is a good place to look for this vibe. And that's just an awesome, groovy sound from Thornton. They're both really cool, thanks! My fault forgetting to tag you in the hubsquid list.
Sabbath and Zeppelin among my first thoughts. Also -
Maybe a bit sloppier than what you are looking for but an epic hard blues/rock band.
Vincebus Eruptum is a good album to start with.
Robin Trower is pretty much the mothers milk of hard blues/rock.
Bridge of Size is the album to check out first.
Ya might like Hawkwind.
I'm not all that knowledgeable about them but seems to fit the bill.
You really can't go wrong with either of Nick Cave's "Grinderman" albums. Vicious, hard driving rock right in the pocket your are taking about I'd say.
Every thing else I'm thinking of is way more on the psychedelic side, which the stuff you posted isn't so much. My head isn't in the rock world at the moment anyway, been listening to forgotten old school hip hop and outsider music as of late, like this stuff.
Blue Cheer is pretty whack, and I love Trower. Why can't I stop listening to that Robert Ashley.. "album"...? It's hypnotizing.. Reminds me of this
