New Foxygen album! thenewgreen ghostoffuffle
I'm not sure if this NPR link works (it doesn't for me, but that is for regional reasons).
I never had a chance to listen to this, but I've just bought it and plan to listen to it in full this afternoon while on a hike. What do you think of it veen? T-Dog how did your show with them go? I know you guys haven't been playing a lot lately, how was your set? How was Foxygen's set? I'm psyched to give this a listen, I'm very much looking forward to it.
The shows went great! We were way more together than I expected us to be - our lead guitarist flew in the day of the first show and got to the venue just in time for sound check. We played a handful of new songs that sounded good and were well received considering how few people were in the audience when we played. It's a little sad being the opening band because so many people only show up for the headliner. But the people that were there enjoyed it - we even have proof via twitter of at least one new fan, so that's good. Foxygen was awesome, they played the same set both nights and their band has grown a LOT since we saw them at solid sound. They're a 9-piece with two guitarists, drums, bass, keys, 3 backup singers, and Sam France as the frontman. They played a lot of new stuff which I think is great. I'm not sure if you listened to their new album yet but I'm interested to hear your thoughts when you do. It's very similar conceptually to their first album - lots of awesome ideas, very few traditional songs. It's a double album/concept album, so you have to treat it like one entity rather than an assortment of tracks. A lot of the negative reviews I've read so far haven't taken that into account.
I'm glad the show went well, I really would have liked to of been there. I'll be seeing Wilco on Saturday and I'm very excited. It would be pretty kick ass if Tweedy opened. I'm really in to Sukirae, I think it's fantastic work, thanks again for sharing that with me. I posted my take on the new Foxygen Album in the weekly music thread. One new fan is one new fan, right? Especially if it's a good fan, the kind that really appreciates what you're creating.
It would have been a great show even if there were zero new fans. I'm just happy i got to see Rado again, and now i can say i've opened for one of my favorite bands. I wish you could have been here, too. I've said it before and i'll say it again - it would be so cool to host a hubski jam at my house. Have fun at the Wilco show! Let me know how it goes.
