Poems are pleasant in many way for their wit, rhythm, thoughtfulness, and insight. I particularly like when a poem helps us reflect on our own issues. We are drawn to poems for many reasons, but when I look at poems that move me most, it is because they help me see issues I grapple with. How nice to read your blog on your life today using a poem to introduce the issues.

Thank you for this remembrance. I too have had to recite an Elizabeth Bishop poem for a writing/poetry class (as I've mentioned to you in the past) and it elicited tears from me too, but for how terrified I was to get up in front a group. -Not an easy thing at that point of my life.
