Last year I realized that as the Co-Founder of Hubski, I could reach out to publicists for events and get media passes. I have only inquired about it once, but it was easy enough. I guess I should consider doing it more often... but who has the time? insomniasexx should absolutely be doing this as the "community manager" for Hubski. You'd be shocked how easy it is insom. Let me know if there is an event you'd like to go to and we'll see about getting you in :-)

Oh man. We should set up a system for this. Have designated users as journalists for majors cities across the US go as press to concerts and such to write reviews here.

    users as journalists

ears perk up

Seriously, that'd be super rad. I love reading and writing music reviews. mk, what do you think?

This year I realized how easy it is to get into Comic Con. Our senior thesis film that is good...campy...but not great was selected for one of the shorts festivals. Each selected movie gets four 4 day passes.

All 8 of us are still alive...barely. I'm about to trek it back to LA. We have about 7 months to make another film so we can do it all again next year.

How did the movie do in the festival? Was it well received? Can I see it sometime?

It played quite early and theres sooooo much to do at comiccon so the turnout wasn't exceptional. But the experience was amazing regardless.

Here's a bonus shot of the actor acting like a koala around 11pm last night.

It's a great perk! I've used my radio cred a couple of times to get into shows. The biggest thing I pulled off was backstage at a Janelle Monae w/ fun. concert that culminated with interviewing Nate Reuss in their tour bus.

    Co-Founder of Hubski

Probably just Baader-Meinhof talking, but I just (like, less than 5 minutes ago) spent a couple minutes scouring the web (connotation of excessive diligence not intended) to try and figure out if you were Hubski's cofounder (somehow I had no idea before I read this article that Hubski even had a cofounder), and here you are straight-up stating it in the comments on an article that I already read earlier today. And for some reason I clicked the post anyway. Weird.

Wow, that is odd and thank you for teaching me about Baader-Meinhof, I didn't realize there was a name for that phenomenon. mk is certainly the founder of Hubski, I came on board a few months after he launched but the site back then was WAY different. It was essentially Hacker News in all grey. We've come a LONG way. Here's one of my favorite media interviews that mk and I have done, with NPR -Michigan Radio. I grew up listening to that NPR station and I bet mk did too. It was a cool experience for sure.

In all honesty, this is probably more about confirmation bias than Baader-Meinhof - I only saw that you were the cofounder once, and it was the short interval between the 2 events that was really remarkable. But Baader-Meinhof sounds cooler :)

And that's really awesome that you guys were covered by your local NPR station. All the local stations I've seen have been pretty much top quality, and I have massive respect for the work they do.
