It means I can write a Sherlock Holmes fan fiction, and selfpublish it!! It's tempting! A few weeks back it was "the Little Prince" from Saint Exupery who went public. Except some greedy right owner managed to keep a copiryght on all the characters... So no little prince, or fox, or sheep-in-a-box fan fiction.

I kind of hope we get a modern book-Sherlock in well, book form. The stories are unintentional period pieces and I would love to read a good modern re-invention since the characters are so compelling.

Most of it has been PD for years 3 stories at the end were all that were off limits.
