Indie punk. Great live shows. Just started a tour with Say Anything and You Blew It!
Not anywhere near me.
OOooh those rhythms right off the top are sweet! Not my usual taste and they sound very similar to Neutral Milk Hotel, but still great.
Gotta be talking about the vocals. The slightly strained quality both bands have -- you get surprised when they move into the upper register because it feels like everything is about to fall apart but it never does. Also basically every song by both bands is bleak and fatalistic.
vocals at first them I immediately connected the acoustic guitar chords and rhythmic strumming with the drums. haha that's a good line, it applies to a lot of genres where the climax is moving in one direction,
a single string of tension rising to a peak where you know its gonna snap and its riveting. On mobile otherwise I'd post similarity examples but like, NML's Holland 1945 and Aeroplane Over the Sea, even Communist Daughter. Not to put this band down again but neutral milk hotel's lyrics are tough to compare with as well;)it feels like everything is about to fall apart but it never does.
Huh, cool. I can see that. My first thought was something more folk punk like AJJ because of the delivery of the lyrics but that's another connection that makes sense. I love when Jeff goes for those high notes in "Oh Comely", it gives me chills every time.
They're basically a mix of AJJ, Paul Baribou, and Modern Baseball. So yeah. I can see a bit of Mangum though. Love me some Front Bottoms music.
