Neil Gaiman wrote a Duran Duran biography? If this isn't satire, that's just hilarious. It could only have been funnier if it were Wham!.
It's for realz. The books are all linked to the Amazon pages. Supposedly Simon Le Bon told Gaiman that they "really liked that one."
Oh wow. I'd never have even considered reading The Big U if it wasn't for the cover art, but now I want to check it out. Seeing something like that with Neal Stephenson's name on it after reading Snow Crash is bizarre and hilarious.
ZOMG. I know that Duran Duran book. My cuz used to have a business next to a used book store and we'd go dumpster diving. The Duran Duran biography and "how to perform an exorcism" were the greatest treasures we ever found. I gave the DD book to a friend that was madly, ironically in love with DD (this was '95 - "ironic" was the only way to do it) and told my cuz to hang on to the exorcism book. We got months of belly laughs out of the DD book. It's fucking hilarious. I'll bet he still has it. At the time, the fact that it was written by someone was completely irrelevant - and in '95, unless you were big into graphic novels Neil Gaiman wasn't really a name. Hell, it'd be another seven years before I dated an obsessive that had every single Sandman novel signed...
