I hope everyone's Halloween was fun. Did anyone here make costume for the occasion? My go to costume before I got married was going as a nudist on strike, but this year my wife spent her little free time crafting a matching costume for both of us in the span of a week.
Note: her head had glowing eyes which don't show too well in the picture. All in all I think it turned out quite well, aside from the majority of the people at the party we were at not knowing what we were.
We spent so much time making this butterfly costume for our daughter that we didn't have time to think of our costumes. My wife did 95% of the work. My 5% came at the end when much to my wife's disappointment the wings flopped down and wouldn't stand up. I molded a coat hanger and threaded it in to each wing. What can't be fixed with either a coat hanger or duct tape or a combination thereof?
Ha, I exploded when we had a costume contest, unfortunately it was poorly managed and a guy who didn't have a costume won first prize. They did have free (watered down) drinks and food which a bonus, though. We don't get any trick-or-treaters because we live on a farm, for better or for worse.
From where I sit, that aspect of farm living sounds nice. I wouldn't mind only a couple trick-or-treaters, but the neighborhood I'm in is one of those that people from out of town drive to on Halloween. Hundreds of kids, potentially a lot of money on candy. No thanks.
My mom was one of those people who would drive us kids to the best places in town for candy. It was fun, but exhausting, to stay up late and bounce around town filling our pillowcases. Then we'd hit up the churches which had halloween events going on and get some candy there. If they did it then we would've probably hit up the malls early as it seems to be a trend to do a mall trick-or-treat for kids. I imagine it gets worse in places like San Francisco with their abundance of comp sci and math graduates who treat trick-or-treating like a travelling salesman problem.
I didn't do anything for Halloween - in fact, I found out it was Halloween the day of. I threw this on: Laziest costume ever. And I didn't even carry a baseball bat. Hopefully the hat and yo-yo sufficed. Sidenote: Fangamer is lovely. Great costumer service and awesome, classy nerd clothing. One of the few brands that I don't mind advertising whenever I can.
Fangamer is amazing indeed. Good shirts plus extras, always pleasant.
I wish there was a place that did nerdy button-downs/sweater-vests/cardigans.
I go here rarely because it's so expensive, but mayhaps these guys might have something you'd enjoy?
