I have a very simple resolution this year, buy the absolute minimal material stuff and spend my disposable income on experiences instead.
You can do it!
I began gaining weight so I have started runing too... :D I noticed that now I don't go anymore clubbing like I used to, a lot of my friends smoke (I find it difficult having smokers around still). My sense of smell is better now, lol. Working on weekends and studing for some exams in June/July and that's it...
My dad owns the last small edition commercial book bindery left in the entire midwest, so I've always had a special spot in my heart for books, partly because my family eating dinner depended on them growing up! (Here's some of his work. I'm biased, but I think its pretty awesome. http://bessenberg.com/products). I appreciate what the Kindle is and does, but I love books as a thing, not just as a conduit for information. Therefore, I hope they never get totally displaced.
Good luck!
2) Can't wait to read the novel! you forgot: 3) Buy a waterfall
You're right, it's good to have a partner. Joanna and I still haven't had any meat since January 1st. So far, so good.
As for my resolution to not eat meat for a year, it's going well. I haven't touched any meat since Dec 31st. Good luck with the lady thing. Sometimes it seems the harder you try the less likely it is to happen. Then, as soon as you seemingly resign your efforts, love falls in your lap. Enjoy yourself regardless!
I suppose I have a few, but my top one is to be the best dad that I can for this little person we are bringing into the world. That means all sorts of things, but basically it means I need to be the best I can be.
1. I am not going to eat meat for a year 2. I am not going to have more than two drinks at a time. Essentially, zero hangovers for an entire year. (one exception for bachelor parties). I waste too much time/energy "recovering", it's stupid and I'm sick of it.
My lunches used to be meat, rice and beans and a salad. Now I generally eat a banana instead of the meat. I don't miss it at all.
I doubt I'll miss it much either.
For the second one. Having had a drink or two or twelve with you in the past, I know how you love the bottle. What I've been doing lately, I've found, is a good way to go for a boozer like myself .... WATER. I usually have to force it, but am always grateful. One glass per hour. The stuff's amazing.
Hope you have fun tonight pal.
#2 Sounds like one of those well intentioned plans that are doomed to failure from the start (or maybe you're hung over now, and you're thinking "I'll never drink again, I swear"). Not eating meat is a goal, and a good one. Limiting yourself to two drinks sounds like something from the Bible--that is, an unreasonable expectation that will only lead to self-loathing and guilt for not living up to perfection. (Tongue-in-cheek, BTW. Actually, I hope it works out. I've had the same thought in the past, but then I end up getting dragged to some lame party where I can't stand to not be drunk, and well, the circle of life carries on, so to speak.)
I know what I'm capable of and if I resolve to do something, it will happen. I will do this and I think it will make me happier and more productive. I drink too much right now, it's indisputable by almost anyones standards. And thank you for the well wishes. Happy New Year b_b
Have you had this? I can't imagine how expensive it is, even for the VSOP. To date the priciest liquor I've ever bought was Remy XO, which ran me ~$170. Not something I would do often, but goddam is it good.
It's $35 a bottle at BevMo. I've a bottle of Hennessy XO. It's nice, but without personality. The Kelt is almost scotch-like in the amount of presence.
I like my toys. Keep it up though pal.
