Just a personal thing, but I'm never even a little anxious about posting to Hubski like I am/was about reddit or a few other sites. I think this is because I don't feel the need to post every little thing here, so the articles, sites, music that I post must be clearly 'Husbki-Worthy' before I even think about posting them, if that makes sense. Rather than just being a blogspam aggregator this site definitely lives up to it's motto.
Cheers to the Thoughtful Web
Also the fact that Reddit does this (MASSIVE KILL LA KILL SPOILERS)
whenever you do something remotely against the hive-mind/post something that is your own. Even if nobody reads some of the stuff I post here in terms of writing, at least nobody's giving me shit about it. Also, I recommend Kill La Kill. Watch it.
I am definitely more thoughtful about my posts here, mostly because I respect the users here. The people here (whom I've never met) are so intellectual with their discourse that I fear saying the wrong thing, or posting something that won't create discussion. That said, i do post more here than on reddit, but it think it has more to do with 1.) I feel more at home here 2.) I occasionally have a "pay attention to me!, Love me! pat me on the back and tell me how good I am!" moment, and when I post something like that here it just disappears into my own hubris.
The best way to learn, as I've said before, is to say something wrong and then get kleinbl00's attention. EDIT: yeah, see?The people here (whom I've never met) are so intellectual with their discourse that I fear saying the wrong thing, or posting something that won't create discussion.
Eh, nothing wrong with being wrong the first time. It's the people who continue to assert their point in the face of overwhelming evidence to the contrary that incur the wrath of the page-long comments. Besides, we've all been dumb here at one point or another!
It shouldn't disappear into your own hubris, but often good things get lost. Sadly sometimes thenewgreen is on vacation.
