Bourbon, that's how! Knob is nice.

I actually prefer Makers myself but mk made it clear he's not a fan. I've had quite a few good Manhattan's made with Makers and I've had some horrible ones made with Makers. Such is the power of a good mixologist. Even the best instruments can sound like shit with the wrong person playing, right?
You have a bourbon you like?
I have had a Knob Manhattan, and although better than Makers, it still didn't knock my socks off. There is always the bartender variable... Maybe a Knob Creek Manhattan made right would be the thing.
It's just a drink that every once in a while is so damned tasty, but the ones I order always seem to fall all over the map.

It's important to remember that the other ingredients "bitters, vermouth" are important too. Just saying....

In that case, I like Woodford Reserve. It has some burnt wood qualities as well as some pepper to it. Perhaps a bit more "tough" than the makers you're not a fan of. Happy drinking! If that doesn't work, stick with what you love and dive in to a scotch. btw, what's your scotch of choice?

Well that's the thing. I haven't tried enough scotch. I've known that I liked Irish Whiskey, and always stuck to that. I bought my pal a bottle of The Dimple Pinch some time ago, and really enjoyed that. I've tried a couple since, including Glenlevit, and enjoyed them. I'm open to suggestions.
I'll check out the Woodford. EDIT: Do you think it's too obvious that we are just Whiskey shills? :)
