It's important to remember that the other ingredients "bitters, vermouth" are important too. Just saying....

I guess that's the problem with ordering as opposed to having your buddy make one with his top shelf stuff.

Maybe I should just stick to the straight stuff.

In that case, I like Woodford Reserve. It has some burnt wood qualities as well as some pepper to it. Perhaps a bit more "tough" than the makers you're not a fan of. Happy drinking! If that doesn't work, stick with what you love and dive in to a scotch. btw, what's your scotch of choice?

Well that's the thing. I haven't tried enough scotch. I've known that I liked Irish Whiskey, and always stuck to that. I bought my pal a bottle of The Dimple Pinch some time ago, and really enjoyed that. I've tried a couple since, including Glenlevit, and enjoyed them. I'm open to suggestions.

I'll check out the Woodford.

EDIT: Do you think it's too obvious that we are just Whiskey shills? :)

I'm a Macallan man all the way when it comes to scotch. Its a little pricey, but any scotch worth drinking is.

We like Laphroaig 15. But that has as much to do with nostalgia as anything.
