I wish I was excited about this. I WANT to be excited about this. But I need to a) follow pro scene or b) get much better to be excited about this haha.

That's sort of where I'm at. If I play ranked it's because I want to play but no one is online. But if no one is online, I rarely want to play league haha.

Sorry about EUW :(

First league problems indeed, haha. I wish you the best of luck! S3 ends so soon.

Darth invader is such a great name haha. And wow, beta. I think I started mid season 2? I don't quite remember. I like to think that if I really tried to rank up I could get to at least gold, but that's how most bronzies feel. I suck so bad with lee...I think its the two-skills per button thing that is so different from the more auto attack based champs I enjoy that makes me misplay him so much.

I was so hurt when I read this because I forgot what it was in response to, haha. Fair point though.

MrSandman  ·  3829 days ago  ·  link  ·    ·  parent  ·  post: My embarrassing picture went viral

It sucks that stuff like this happens, but very few of us can say that they never take part in this kind of shaming. I certainly do on occasion. She even said she did. It's just kind of human nature, as bad as it is. Which explains the shock people feel when they realize that every picture, every comment, every post on the internet came from an actual human being.

What I think is funny is that, personally, this picture isn't near what comes on up from some people. It's a girl in a costume for Halloween, and she probably had fun that night. It's really not that bad, and it got such mean comments. I cannot imagine what thoughts someone has when a picture goes viral of them having an accident or taking part in something they're not proud of. The comments could be absolutely destructive to an already teetering self-confidence.

MrSandman  ·  3829 days ago  ·  link  ·    ·  parent  ·  post: Cursive Writing

I honestly think this is ridiculous. We could put so many more useful features in our education system at this point and we have people deciding to refocus on something that I believe is widely seen as the single most useless part of elementary school. I know I couldn't still write in cursive, and I doubt I'll ever need to again.

I clicked on this apparently not expecting it to actually rely on color as much as it did...I'm not significantly colorblind, but oh my am I not going to TOUCH this.

MrSandman  ·  3829 days ago  ·  link  ·    ·  parent  ·  post: What is Voluntary Simplicity?

I really like that phrase "voluntary simplicity". It takes away a lot of the negative connotation that these things usually have on people.

I've also always really wanted to do this, but time and time again I've proven I can't. I was very interested in the ideals of Buddhism for a month, I tried to start meditating everyday, I took daily walks just to watch the sky for a week or two - but every time I ended up finding something "better" to do with my time. "Better" as in, I could be leveling up in a game. That's a more efficient use of time, right? I hate it but I slip back into a mindset of being productive in a net-neutral or negative activity is "better" than simply taking time for an activity that is net-positive in the long run.

It doesn't help that I'm a fidget-y kind of person. I always need something to do, whether it is playing with my keys or playing with my iPhone. The iPhone has secured its spot, however, and it would be like quitting an addiction to keep that thing away for a day. Society as a whole is getting more and more afraid of living like this because of people like me, who don't feel like they can afford to take the time to live simpler.

Mad props to anyone who does this. I'd like tips.

I literally just joined this site. I've had it bookmarked for a while but haven't explored it, I can't remember if I found it on reddit or what.

For those of us who'd rather not fuck up this place, but want to take part it in, what are these "rules" and the general flow? I'm sure some of you vets who want to keep this place special would rather spread the stories than lose them.

I only really know the whole people-centric factor (which is awesome, because I never comment or anything on reddit due to my comment not even making a dent in anything).
