The United States really needs to get over its weird persecution of human sexuality, and really, don't these politicians have any more important issues to be tackling? If you really find a nipple to be offensive and worth half a year of jail time, then you need to reexamine quite a few things.

Why is my nipple okay but a woman's isn't? People are crazy. Sometimes people need to stop, take a deep breath and take a close look at what they're doing and what they're fighting for. It's a nipple. Chill out.

This one isn't even about prudishness.

The sponsors of the bill, State Rep. Tim Moffitt (R-Buncombe) and Rep. Rayne Brown (R-Davidson), admit that the purpose of the proposal is to shut down the Asheville topless rallies for women’s rights, the first of which, in 2011, drew about 2,000 people, while the second, in August 2012, drew several hundred.

There are only two things I can think of. Female nipples are seen as a sexual object, so it could be a crusade against sexuality and for preserving traditional family values. Or it could be because it's a females and it's a way of exploiting sexism and limiting female rights.

I think it's probably both. I also would guess that this "event" in Asheville is something they'd like to squash and this is their means by which to do it.

What people don't realize is the more you discourage something, the more likely people are to do it. I kind of want to go check this event out :)

I only live 3.5 hours away.
