- MTV, you spineless twerps. You refuse to play "This Note's For You" because you're afraid to offend your sponsors. What does the "M" in MTV stand for: music or money? Long live rock and roll.

From the start. Elvis sold the blues to white kids. The Sex Pistols were selling fashion. The idea that rock and roll is some pure thing done for its own sake leads many bands to try to make it so, but that's the mutation and if anything it's more prevalent than ever. If that's what you're looking for, you just have to look.
