He wrote 'Seinfeld' long hand because he doesn't like the computer cursor staring at him.
I enjoyed this video. It's always nice to see how the "sausage is made". Jerry's a great tour guide through his creative process. It's more like songwriting -I like that the great comics have a rhythm and a cadence to their bits. Jerry's a master. Louis CK credits him as having one of the best performances he's ever seen.
Really interesting. I honestly don´t like his stand up stuff, but love Seinfeld. If you´re interested here´s a great video of Seinfeld, Chris Rock, Ricky Gervais, and Louis Ck talking about comedy. It´s really good. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PYuaycrkh9g
This is way better than the original Seinfeld video. I do a lot of comedy, improv, sketch and stand-up, and this video is great information about how to develop more and more pieces.
May I ask what about the stand-up of Jerry Seinfeld do you not like?
Yeah sure. I honestly think it´s probably the way he delivers his jokes, for me it´s pretty simple. To contrast, I love Louis CKs style, I love that we can feel his "pain" and misery. His jokes are also a bit old school for me, which are in no way bad, just not really as entertaining. I´m also more into dark comedy. Like I said I love Seinfeld, I think it´s the best sitcom ever, however his stand up for me it´s meh.
Great video, from a master comedian. I agree with him on writing Seinfeld as opposed to typing it on a computer. It feels much more organic and human to create comedy, music, etc. on a piece of paper as opposed to typing it on a computer.
Yes- individualized physical feedback. Right now hitting any one key is the same as hitting another and it doesn't feel different or personable. If there was a more unique way of getting feedback based on what you were inputting, then it would feel more personal and comfortable. On the other hand, I don't think that the current design paradigms are moving that way.
