I power-washed, sanded, and stained my deck. Now I need to replace two boards, and buy/install the spiral staircase before our "rugby friends get-together" house party on the 14th.

Bought a very modern, but very old school, Fiskars bladed push mower for my lawn, and I utterly love it. Push mowers are something I like very much because of their build quality and simplicity. I also don't have a big lawn.

But this thing is cool. The wheels are slightly inside the blade, so it cuts all the way to the edge of the wheels. It also has a cover on it that throws the cut grass back in front of the mower, so you run it over AGAIN and basically mulch it.

Super simple to operate, and very effective... when you use it once a week or so. It won't cut grass over 6-inches high, so you need to get out there and cut the grass now and then before it gets too high... but even a month of neglect won't have you reaching for the weed whacker.

In my garden things are going BONKERS. I have daisies that are as high as my chest, and each one of the five plants has about 50 blossoms on it! The lilies have come up and are beautiful. The raspberries and strawberries are putting out a lot of delicious fruit. The tomatoes and squash plants are THRIVING and are going to be abundant this year, I can tell already. And even the Crocosmia I planted THIS SPRING are beginning to put out buds... about two weeks after everyone else's are in full bloom.

It's lovely. And I love being the suburban dad, standing out there in my shorts, watering my plants. Makes me happy....
