I love/hate trying to imagine what perceptions of the scientific community might be like in some ideological circles.

"OK so it's ten thousand climatologists, all wearing lab coats... and they.. coordinate all of their messaging and statistics. OR NO, the stats and measurements disagree wildly between each study, but...... still, they're all in this 'climate change' scam together, driven by a hatred of big business down at the cellular level (well-documented amongst scientists), so no one spills the beans about how it's the 3% of ex-communicated climatologists working for right-wing think tanks and/or oil companies who are correct, and are deservedly making a shitton more money, because, y'know, THEY are the ones telling the truth, so should be handsomely rewarded..."

But anyway, that was all before right-wing America thoroughly demonized any sort of academic expertise. In their world, credentials are now a liability instead of an asset. What a rough time for sell-out shill scientists.

Now, the chic talking point to parrot is "OK so maybe scientists were right about climate change, but it'll cost too much to address, so... I mean, oh well, right? What can ya do??"

Judging by our current trajectory, the new talking point is doing very, very well.

Fascinating set of screen pix, thanks for posting. I was surprised that I was surprised to find out that F-book employees use the platform for internal comms. In hindsight, I don't know what I expected.? Teams? Slack? Discord? A-doyyyyy they use their own native chat/messaging engine, am_U. Liberals think fights are won by being right. They are shocked and confused when engaging with conservatives, who win fights by whatever means necessary.

It's in the basic layout of the philosophies: the goal of liberalization is progress and the advancement of ideas as they are proven. The goal of conservation is resistance to change and preservation of the existing order. For liberals, the order should be changed if it's wrong. For conservatives, the order cannot be wrong.

It all comes back to rhetoric. We teach debate, which is all about "my facts trump your facts." We don't teach rhetoric, whereby winners win. It's like a boxer vs. an MMA fighter: The boxer will likely win in the end simply because he trains to take punches for longer. But for the duration of the fight, the MMA guy is going to "cheat" by using attacks and techniques that are explicitly banned under Marquess of Queensbury Rule.

So long as we keep complaining that they're not playing by the rules, we will keep being outplayed.

spooks got Facebook too

Judd linked the google doc in his Friday email. It isn't a part of his Friday post.
