I have a soft spot in my heart for Roland Iten. His shit is fucking ridiculous. His website just recently got refreshed for the first time since Space Jam and apparently is so buried that it isn't even on the first five pages of Google results for "roland iten." I don't think he's ever sold anything for less than $20k and let's be honest - $14k for cufflinks is batshit. Also he's got 2 subscribers on Youtube and neither of them are me.
At the same time, I'm reminded of the time Max Brusser lined up all the Horological Machines for an Instagram post and someone said "is that your collection?" and the guy who basically created "haute horology" when he was at Harry Winston said "are you kidding? I can't afford any of this!"
So I kinda wonder if Roland Iten wasn't sorta sitting around going "I wonder if I could trick someone into paying $150k for a belt buckle" only to discover that yes, yes he could.
"The naked watchmaker" is Peter Speake-Marin. So this is kind of like Carole Shelby doing a tear-down of a Maserati, if that maserati were... a belt buckle.
