I made it halfway through the first book. Granted, I eyerolled pretty hard at the guy playing bach in the swamp on his space organ ON HIS SPACESHIP and they never got me back.

My initial reaction isn't too good either - about 1/4 way through and I feel assaulted with exposition and left wondering why he chose these garish caricatures? I am stubborn though and willing to plough through the whole book and then see how I feel about continuing the series but I'm wary.
