I like Spanish for similar reasons: there are two verbs to be: one (ser) meaning to be in a permanent way (e.g. Soy Mexicana - I am Mexican), and the other (estar) meaning to be in a transitory way (estoy aburrido/a - I'm (feeling) bored). If you confuse them, people look at you in complete confusion: the concepts are completely separate in their minds. There is absolutely no way you can permanently be sad, depressed, bored, or contented (you can be permanently happy, though :) ). Weirdly, for a language spoken in Catholic countries, "I am married" is "Estoy casado/a" - transitory!
