Although the whole "luge" and "absinthe slotted spoon" and "sugar cube" are all wonderful rituals, they aren't necessary when drinking a "good" absinthe.

Cointreau, lillet blanc (which is a massive success but outside my weekly-intake price range), cheap but decent gin, and grande absente, which is evidently a French absinthe, but not particularly expensive. And it was lemony because it called for an ounce of fresh lemon juice. Surely it's meant to be lemony. Honestly it tasted like fucking lemonade, but I liked it.
