- In the wake of the shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School that killed 17 children and faculty, survivors of the unthinkable act became unified — against guns, against violence, and against adults who wouldn't listen. Together, they began pleading with legislators to change something. Unlike previous tragedies, where politicians and activists drove the narrative, it was the survivors who took the mic and stole the show. Not just any survivors, either. Teenagers.

I’ve gotta agree with Oprah on this one, there’s a very clear goal with the most recent shooting. The problem with having a “list of demands” is that you have to agree with all of them in order to support the movement so the big ones tend to get lost. Example being in Toronto BLM tried to force pride to stop allowing LGBT officers from marching in uniform, I don’t agree with that and I don’t agree with how they went about it either. Supporting a movement were I don’t actually agree with everything would shift the focus from the part I care about.
