Yeah, our Chinese solar panel embargo is one of the stupidest foreign policy decisions I can remember. We're already getting assed out of Africa and South Asia by the Chinese; they'll invest in f'n anything in order to make a cut on the back end and by providing solar to developing nations they help stunt an oil economy, leaving more for themselves. It's so stupid. If the problem is Chinese subsidies, the solution is American subsidies.
A utility in Wisconsin announced plans to retire a large coal plant and install a moderate amount of solar (their first that I know of). No business is paying the slightest afternoon to Trump's rhetoric. This isn't Massachusetts or California. The utility isn't even in liberal Madison. It's just good business right now.
I read a report on job loss commissioned under LBJ in 1965. Know what they were mourning? The goddamn coal miners. Less than 30% of their workforce employed from 30 years previous. 1965. We have been bemoaning the fate of the goddamn coal miners since before we went to the goddamn moon.
