I think they should be willing to not award a Nobel Peace Prize if they can't find someone who unambiguously deserves it. I was disgusted when Aung received it an just gobsmaked when Obama got it. The whole repressed Muslim minority story was at a low burn when she was awarded but her sentiments were on the record. I wonder how close the awards committee really looks at their candidates? How much time is spent in debate and how diverse the committee is?
Kissinger had the decency to not attend the ceremony, donate the money to charity and offer to return the prize after things in Vietnam got rough. I'm not praising the guy but it's a tidbit I've learned while reading up on the Peace Prize. There are all kinds of bullshit problems with the prize, the more I read the less value I put in it.
