this exists. I stumbled upon Braco a few days ago and couldn't believe that people were ponying up money to have someone "gaze" in their direction.
Is Braco the real deal, or a charlatan, making money off of rich white women?
Hahahaha. Didn't you to some extent defend Eckhart Tolle and the Power of Now? You need to go and stare into a strangers eyes without speaking for a half hour, better yet an hour and learn some shit about yourself. It's about 1000x as powerful and the puerile gobbly gook, self contradictory non-nonsensical vomit that Tolle spews. I bet this guy is aces at quietly looking at people, it'd fuck your shit up if you tried it. Weirdest shit happens when you just stare in someones eyes who you don't know without talking for a long time. Stuff starts firing in your brain, you get a strange high, you start loosing control of you emotions, you fight the self to maintain your vigilance, you fight through to the other side to be right in the moment, it's a pretty decent thing to do, try it if you can find a willing partner. I bet who you partner with matters. I bet the more you pay to do the better it fucking is. I'd give this guy a Jefferson to stare at me for twenty minutes just to compare it to the other times I've gazed without preconception or intention into anther persons eyes for an extended period of time. Lol, Tolle.
Have you read tolle? It's essentially repackaged Bhudism, meditation and mindfulness. Pretty straight forward stuff. I have gazed in to my wife's eyes. It's an awesome practice that I would recommend. Gazing in to the eyes of a Croat, I don't know, as he stands on a rock in front of a large crowd, is just odd. My hats off to him. Don't hate the Braco, hate the game.
Yea the crowd thing is bullshitty but still better than listening to some gnome incoherently babble exhortations to not think over 4 CD's. Ya want to stare into someone's eyes right you walk into a room with two chairs facing each other about 3 feet apart with a person you don't know at all well. Be rested and fed. Look in each other's eyes for a half hour, don't talk at all during before or during.
"If you see the bhudda on the road, kill him." If Braco is motivating people toward that end, great. I think these people see it more as "him" and not the act of staring in to someone, anyone's, eyes. Meaning that his eyes are somehow magical. Fuck, who knows, maybe they are. But it's not the teacher, it's the teachings. Which is why I could not care less about the "gnome," but I did enjoy the teachings. They were practical. Much more so than paying money to sit in an auditorium while a man stands there in silence. Different strokes.Ya want to stare into someone's eyes right you walk into a room with two chairs facing each other about 3 feet apart with a person you don't know at all well. Be rested and fed. Look in each other's eyes for a half hour, don't talk at all during before or during.
I read most your comment thinking you meant staring at random people in public, so I'm glad you're not 'that person on the bus'. The power of close-ups and portraits in art, from television and movies to paintings, is that it let's you get an intimate view of somebody's eyes and face that you wouldn't otherwise get without a willing partner. So it doesn't surprise me that people are monetising it, but I fundamentally distrust spiritual works that aren't free and open to all.
To add to my previous comment upon further reflection: You can listen to a dopey snake oil charlatan like Tolle for a few loooonnnngg days on audio book, or worse, read his dull ass, making no sense, repetitive book to learn about how to live in the NOW, or you can stare into anther persons eyes for a bit of the day and experience the real deal with little or no training or bullshit. It's no fucking contest for me, I'd rather stare into someone else's eyes, or take a mega dose of hallucinogens, or better yet, stare into someone else's eyes while on a mega dose hallucinogens. It's dogma or revelation, you pay your price and you take your pick.
See my other comment re tolle. I have no affection for the man, I'll not defend him other than to say the mindfulness teachings, which didn't origin with him, are spot on. Also, I've done acid and looked in to someone else's eyes. I've done the same when sober. It's a cool experience. One that I try to do often, in smaller spurts. It's a connective exercise. Good stuff. I just think paying someone to quietly look out at an audience is really fucking odd.
