There is nothing to be proud of in a nation under a Trump presidency. I like you a lot rd, but come on.
Wilson was a flat out racist. We survived. Taft was a do-nothing. We survived. Grant allowed massive corruption under his nose. We survived. Nixon.... We survived. I'm angry, gonna get sleep. Gonna sit in meetings and shit all day, then come back with a clearer perspective on what is going to happen and start looking for the people who are going to stand and fight for my values and help as I can. There are a ton of angry people out there that are also hurting and being left behind. That is how you get Trump. Not sure how to work on changing this direction, but I am willing to try. It's all we can do.
How do you help, though? I asked you this elsewhere. How do you do it? This is my second election cycle where I've been able to vote. We're going to be facing a Republican Executive, Legislative, and Judicial Branch, and all the pissed off people voting for these Republicans are halfway across the world from me, effectively. How am I supposed to reach those people or help reach those people from 1,000 miles away. That's the question that's been eating away for hours now.
I called Feingold's campaign office and thanked him for running. I sent email to Senator Wyden. I sent the EFF an extra $250 today. Find the liberal wing of the Democratic party, follow then on the social brain cancer crap, look for groups that are going to fight the ACA dismantling and the new tax hand outs.
I guess...i don't see how any of that contributes to changing the tide that is middle America and rural America, where the divide is. I can support all the left leaning liberal institutions in the city I'm in exactly because they exist here and we benefit from that...but everywhere else...
Stop with the doom and gloom shit. If half the stuff they say about Trump is true, we have a hard road ahead of us and that kind of mentality isn't gonna make it any easier. So yes. Be proud. Be proud of who you are as a person. Be proud of your friends and family. Be proud of your job and the work that you do. Be proud of your desire to be good and honest and hard working. As soon as you let go of any of that, it suddenly becomes a lot harder to care about yourself and the world around you. Or mope like a quitter. That's fine too if that's what you're really into.
